date night
11:01
Usually when it comes to date night with hubby and I, we go
to somewhere we know because we know we like it there, and we don’t take much
of gamble because we don’t go out as much as we used to, but last night we took
a gamble on Shakafuyu.
Hubby left it to me to book a restaurant and I had an urge
to go to Soho. My old hunting, ahem, haunting ground of 10 years ago and more.
Shakafuyu is exactly what I like in a restaurant. Casual
vibe, friendly staff, good music in the back ground– I am not much of a rocker
but Big P loved it and I thought it was great to have this kind of music going
on. One minute it was Nivarna, then next it was Inxs.
The food was divine. We had to talk to each other more so
that we wouldn’t swallow up the food in 10 minutes and have to go home earlier.
Which was perfect for a date night with your hubby scenario!
This place encourages a tapas situation, sharing, which Big
P and I are not very good at. We had - edamame – sweet chilli soy, prawn toast
masquerading as okonomiyaki, fried potatoes – japanese curry sauce, the fatty,
sticky lamb ribs, pot stone rice and the most tasty kinako french toast with Green
Tea ice cream.
The lamb was so soft and flavoursome that I
licked my fingers and thumbs about five times! Every single dish was exactly the
taste that you think the dish should be. The very friendly waitress said that
the pop will be open until February (and see where they go on from there)
